ABOUT THE CLUB

Every Chapter
needs a home.

EC Warlords started as three friends and a folding table. It's grown into a standing army of hobbyists who take their painting seriously and their battlefield banter even more so.

Our story

Eastern Cape Warlords is a wargaming group located in South Africa, interested in all things Warhammer 40K, Age of Sigmar, Kings of War, and board games.

Eastern Cape Warlords was founded in 2019 by a small group of hobbyists who wanted somewhere to play more than one game a month. What began in a garage with a single battered rulebook now fills a hall every Thursday night with armies from every corner of the 41st Millennium.

We're not a tournament circuit and we're not a paint-only guild — we're both, and neither, depending on the week. Some members haven't finished basing a single model in three years. Others have cabinets of golden-demon-worthy work. Both are welcome at the same table.

What holds it together is simple: show up, bring something you're proud of (or something you're still learning on), and be a decent opponent. That's the whole code.

THE CODE

What we actually do here.

The Hobby

Weekly paint nights, technique clinics, and a "no unpainted models on the table" rule we mostly enforce with love, not judgment.

The Battlefield

Pickup games every week, a running narrative campaign, and one blood-and-thunder escalation league per year.

The Brotherhood

Lore debates, army-building help, and a group chat that never sleeps and never stops arguing about points costs.

HISTORY

How we got here.

2019 — The Founding

Three friends, one garage, and a single battered copy of the rulebook. First campaign: a five-battle grudge match that's still argued about today.

2021 — First Escalation League

Membership crosses fifteen. We run our first points-building league, growing armies from 500 to 2000 points over ten weeks.

2023 — A Real Clubhouse

We outgrow the garage and move into a proper hall with permanent tables, terrain storage, and (finally) decent lighting for painting.

2025 — 40 Members Strong

Seven factions represented on any given night, a waitlist for new-painter mentorship, and our first inter-club tournament hosted on our own tables.

2026 — Crusade of Embers

Our biggest narrative campaign yet: a twelve-battle escalating war across three fictional warzones, running all season.
